Project Focus: Trauma System Evaluation & Quality Improvement

As part of my Master’s in Nursing Leadership and Administration, this project evaluated the accuracy and compliance of EMS run reports with the Ohio Trauma Triage Decision Scheme. I conducted a comprehensive review of prehospital trauma documentation, collaborated with EMS personnel through field ride-alongs, and interviewed a regional trauma nurse coordinator to identify trends and system gaps.

The findings provided actionable insights to improve trauma patient triage, streamline EMS-to-hospital communication, and enhance alignment with Ohio Department of Public Safety standards. This work underscored the vital role of nurse leaders in system-level quality assurance, data-driven decision-making, and trauma care coordination across the continuum.
